The Radiation Oncology Team
Our board certified radiation oncologist has extensive experience in treatments that target prostate cancer cells and spare as much nearby healthy tissue as possible.
State-of-the-Art Treatments and Technologies
SpaceOAR Hydrogel: SpaceOAR hydrogel is an absorbable hydrogel that temporarily creates space between the prostate and the rectum, protecting the rectum from radiation exposure during prostate radiation therapy. Acting as a spacer, the hydrogel pushes the rectum a half inch away from the prostate so damage to the rectum is reduced or even eliminated. SpaceOAR hydrogel can be used in all types of radiation therapy including external radiation, internal radiation and stereotactic body radiation.
TrueBeam Radiotherapy System: Used to treat many types of cancers, the TrueBeam™ precisely targets tumors with high doses of radiation while minimizing exposure to healthy surrounding tissue.
High Dose Rate Brachytherapy System (HDR): HDR technology uses a computer-controlled radioactive source for rapid delivery of pinpoint doses of radiation, limiting radiation exposure to normal tissues.
CyberKnife® M6™: Patients can complete treatment in five days, compared to the weeks it takes to complete a course of conventional radiation therapy. It is also an option for patients who have inoperable or surgically complex tumors, or who may be looking for an alternative to surgery.
Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) with Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT): IMRT with IGRT treatment technology allows precise targeting of cancerous tissues while helping spare adjacent normal organs.
